The Grey Art Gallery and local Billtown Burlesque star, Tristan Lee, wanted to let everyone know of a slight schedule change with the monthly “Night of Spoken Word” event. Normally the gallery reserves the second Friday of every month for the event, but decided to move the date out to Friday, May 25, from 7 – 9 p.m. in order to let the audience experience the new art exhibit “Between Life and Death” featuring Jeremiah Johnson.
Spoken Word is a free event that is open to the public. Those interested in participating are asked to arrive at 6:30 p.m. so that a running order can be established. The Grey Art Gallery is located at 140 West Fourth St., Williamsport, in the heart of downtown.
Spoken Word is very similar to a typical open-mic night, however we let the voice be the instrument. Participants are asked to keep performances under 5 minutes so that we can allow the diverse amounts of talent this area has to offer an opportunity to perform. Our MC, Tristan Lee, keeps it all together and keeps the positive vibes flowing. Tristan has been serving as the MC since spoken word’s inception back in December. He is also responsible for the Spoken Word Facebook page.
The Grey Art Gallery has been hosting art openings since July 2011. Their current show “Between Life and Death” features new work by local artist and printmaker Jeremiah Johnson. Each month the theme, featured artist, and floor plan transforms to accommodate larger than life paintings, sculpture, prints and more.
