Lancaster, PA – Society of Design, a non-profit organization dedicated to multidisciplinary design education and community service is pleased to announce its 2011-2012 speaker series featuring an incredible line-up of noteworthy designers within architecture, industrial design, and graphic design.


Allan Chochinov • October 26, 2011 • Appalachian Brewing Company

Chochinov is editor-in-chief of, the world’s longest-running (16 years) and most-respected industrial design blog, and the Chair and co-founder of the School of Visual Arts (NYC) MFA in Products of Design program. Additionally, he holds a number of design and utility patents.

Jun Aizaki • November 17, 2011 • Penn State Harrisburg

Aizaki is the founder of Créme Design in Brooklyn – a multi-disciplinary studio specializing in retail and restaurant design. The firm offers architectural, interior, graphic, and custom furniture services and was recently featured in Metropolis magazine.

Peter Bohlin • Date TBA / Tentatively December 1, 2011 • Venue TBA

Bohlin is the 2010 AIA Gold Medal winner. His firm, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, designs exceptional spaces – both residential and commercial – including the iconic Apple store on Fifth Avenue in NYC.



Alan Dye • February 23, 2012 • Penn State Harrisburg


Formerly the design director at Kate Spade and a designer at Ogilvy’s Brand Integration Group and Landor, Alan Dye is currently a creative director at Apple Computer.


Paula Scher • March 22, 2012 • Whitaker Center


One of the most successful designers in history, Scher is partner at Pentagram in NYC. She is in the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame, recipient of both the AIGA Medal and the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design, and has work included in numerous permanent collections in museums around the world.
