More chocolate, more moose, more fun! The North Museum of Natural History & Science invites the community to celebrate thirteen years of sweet treats, moose mayhem, and family fun at the annual Chocolate Moose Daze event on January 28 & 29 from noon to 4:00 p.m.
2012 will mark the 13th year of Chocolate Moose Daze at the North Museum, where visitors can enjoy a weekend full of crafts, games and activities all devoted to moose and chocolate. Guests can search for moose in a museum-wide scavenger hunt, create their own moose puppet, practice their moose calling skills, and sample delicious chocolate treats in the “Chocolate Moose Café”. All activities are included in Museum admission. Chocolate Moose Daze is sponsored by The Hershey Company.
The North Museum Planetarium will also offer programs throughout the Chocolate Moose Daze Weekend. Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the planetarium show. Visitors can experience the following shows:
- 11:00 a.m. (Saturday only) – One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure – Join Big Bird and Elmo as they take an imaginary trip from Sesame Street to the starry night sky and the moon.
- 1:00 p.m. – Extreme-O-What? – Join us for the third installment of live science theater in the Planetarium as we explore the world of extremeophiles. Travel to Yellowstone National Park, the deep sea floor, or Antarctica with your host Ray O’Sunshine.
- 2:00 p.m. – Black Holes – Journey to the depths of a black hole with Academy-Award nominated actor, Liam Neeson. This cutting-edge production features visualizations of cosmic phenomena to bring the current science of black holes to the dome.
- 3:00 p.m. – Night Sky Tour – Learn how to identify the stars, constellations, and planets of the current night sky, along with observation tips for upcoming celestial events provided. Presented by the North Museum’s own planetarium staff, this interactive lecture is packed with mythology, science facts, and celestial anecdotes.
The North Museum of Natural History & Science is located at 400 College Avenue in Lancaster. Admission to the Museum is $7.50 for adults, and $6.50 for juniors (ages 3-17) and seniors (65 and over). Planetarium shows are an additional $2.50 to the price of admission. The Museum is free for children under three.
