Learning is Fun at Hersheypark

For several days each May, Hersheypark, the 110-acre theme park with more than 65 rides and attractions, becomes an active “laboratory” featuring specialized learning concepts allowing students to make their own personal discoveries and reinforce what they’ve learned in their classrooms.
This year Hersheypark proudly debuts Hersheypark Happy Wellness Day in support of The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Initiative to Improve Adolescent Health. This new program recognizes that educating the mind needs to be balanced with exercising both the body and spirit.
Below is information about each of the days. Complete details are available at www.Hersheypark.com.

o Friday, May 3 – Math Day: Activities are targeted for students through 8th grade and will apply real-life situations to the mathematical concepts learned in the classroom by completing activities such as timing a roller coaster train as it leaves the station and then calculating its speed by knowing the distance it travels.

o Friday, May 10 – Physics Day: Students will learn how physics concepts relate to the motion of rides by using self-guided manuals and a variety of instruments. The staff of Millersville University’s physics department will host specially designed programs in the Hersheypark Amphitheatre.

o Friday, May 17 – Science Day: Representatives from The Franklin Institute, one of the premiere centers for science education and development, will offer interactive and educational presentations in the Hersheypark Amphitheatre.

o Thursday, May 23 – Entertainment Day: Students will have the opportunity to get a special behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to produce a Park show. Access to rehearsals of select shows and a chance to meet our famous sea lions and their trainers are part of the day. A question-and-answer session with one of the leading choreographers in the amusement park industry is also available.

o Friday, May 24 – Marketing Day: Students will have access to marketing experts who will discuss a variety of marketing disciplines. Presentations will be held in the Music Box Theatre, and a question-and-answer session will follow each 25-minute presentation.

o Friday, May 31 – NEW Hersheypark Happy Wellness Day: Activities, created in conjunction with the PA Department of Education, focus on improving health and well-being and are targeted for middle and high-school age students. Included in the day are a Health Fair, including more than ten interactive wellness booths; and a 45-minute dynamic, fun magic show demonstrating the importance of good nutrition that has entertained more than one million students across the United States.
In addition, the month of May is designated “Home School Month” and the Park offers a special discount to Home School families. For more information about programs and discounts, please visit www.Hersheypark.com.
