The Fateful Fifth concert is part of the 2012 HSO Education Week: Five days of fun, interactive programs for the whole family to promote classical music to area children.
Wednesday, February 8th
2012 HSO Education Week begins on Wednesday, February 8 with a special Fateful Fifth ‘How to Listen.” Join the HSO’s Assistant Conductor Tara Simoncic for a pre-Fateful Fifth event to give attendees behind-the-scenes information on the pieces, background story, and interesting tidbits at The Cellar in Camp Hill at 6:30 pm. Space is limited to 40 people. Reserve your free space by emailing Kim Isenhour.
Friday, February 10th
2012 HSO Education Week begins on Friday, February 10 with100 Musicians Playing in the Schools. The HSO will be sending 100 musicians out into the Harrisburg School District to play for the students and give them an up-close and personal look at classical music.
Saturday, February 11th
Education Week continues on Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 AM with a free Harrisburg Symphony open rehearsal at the Forum. The Open Rehearsal offers area schools and social groups a “behind the scenes” look at the symphony’s preparation for the weekend’s Masterworks concert. Registration is requested but not required. Saturday, February 11th/Sunday, February 12th
The Fateful Fifth performances will be performed by the Harrisburg Symphony at 8PM on Saturday, February 11th and 3 PM on Sunday, February 12th.
Tuesday, February 14th
Education Week concludes with a Free Family Concert by the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra and Junior Youth String Orchestra. Beginning at 6:15 PM, children can meet members of the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra and learn about their instruments up close at special instrument “Petting Zoo” activity stations in the Forum lobby. HSYO Music Director, Tara Simoncic with the Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra and Junior Youth String Orchestra take the stage. Several selections include Allegro from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Prelude to “Carmen” and “Romeo and Juliet” Fantasy Overture. The performance begins at 7PM with general admission seating. No tickets are required.
