Broadway’s Back at the HSO!

The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra will be joined by three stars of the Broadway stage and the Harrisburg Singers as it presents Broadway’s Back on the Capital BlueCross Pops Series on Saturday, January 28th at 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 29th at 3 p.m. at the Forum in Harrisburg.

Don’t miss this sequel to Broadway Rocks, the show that rocked the Forum two years ago! Three of Broadway’s brightest new stars – Capathia Jenkins, Christiane Noll and Rob Evan – will join the HSO to perform selections from rock-inspired musicals such as Movin’ Out, Lion King, Hairspray, Wicked, Dreamgirls, and Phantom of the Opera.

Capathia Jenkins, vocals

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Capathia Jenkins made her Broadway debut in “The Civil War,” where she created the role of Harriett Jackson. Other roles include a starring appearance in the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell, for which she can still be heard on the original cast recording, and The Look of Love on Broadway, where she was critically acclaimed for her performances of the title song. She has additionally created the role of The Washing Machine in Caroline, and, most recently, created the role of Frieda May on Broadway in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. Ms. Jenkins has enjoyed concert success in New York at Joe’s Pub, Birdland and The Metropolitan Room, and in Chicago at Steppenwolf. She has also appeared with the Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony, Utah Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, San Diego Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic.

Christiane Noll, vocals

New York-born, New Jersey-raised actress, Christiane Noll, was nominated for both a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award and won a Helen Hayes Award for her portrayal of Mother on Broadway in the Kennedy Center Revival of RAGTIME. She made her Broadway debut starring in JEKYLL & HYDE, creating the role of Emma. Ms. Noll received an Ovation Award for her comedic turn as Hope Cladwell in the National Tour of URINETOWN, wowed audiences again as Vanna Vane in the new musical THE MAMBO KINGS and soared as Jane Smart in the American premiere of THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK.

Ms. Noll has been living up to her reputation as being “one of the most versatile actresses in the American Musical Theatre” with a varied repertoire in Broadway, Opera, Operetta and Jazz. She has been a frequent guest soloist as part of Bravo Broadway with symphony orchestras around the world, including the National Symphony and Marvin Hamlisch, the Cincinnati Pops and Erich Kunzel, the Philly Pops and Peter Nero, the Boston Pops and Keith Lockhart, as well as appearances with The Cleveland Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, The San Francisco Symphony, and the Beijing Philharmonic with world renowned pianist, Lang Lang. 

She has been a member of the national tours of GREASE! as Sandy, MISS SAIGON as Ellen, and CITY OF ANGELS as Mallory/Avril as well as a tour of Australia and Thailand as Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC. Ms. Noll made her opera debut with Plácido Domingo and the Washington National Opera in THE MERRY WIDOW as Valencienne at The Kennedy Center, her Hollywood Bowl debut with Julie Andrews – THE GIFT OF MUSIC, and her Carnegie Hall debut as one of the 3 Broadway Divas with The New York Pops and Skitch Henderson in his last pops performance.

Rob Evan, vocals

Rob Evan starred in the original Broadway cast of Jekyll & Hyde, playing the title roles for three years in over 600 performances, and performed around the world in the all-new Jekyll & Hyde: The Concert. Currently touring as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables around the U.S., he also appeared in this role on Broadway. Other roles include Kerchak in Disney’s Tarzan at the Richard Rodgers Theater; Orin Scrivello, D.D.S., in Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway; and Count von Krolock in Dance of the Vampires at the Minskoff Theater. He also is a member of the platinum-selling rock band, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In concert, he has performed with symphony orchestras across the nation, including recent appearances in San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta, Chicago, Alabama and Indianapolis.
