Hershey Area Playhouse Presents Romeo & Juliet

Just in time for the Valentine’s Day season, Hershey Area Playhouse will perform the classic love story, Romeo & Juliet on February 16-19 and 23-26, 2012.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet tells the tragic story of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet falling in love despite their family’s wishes. As brawls and grudges take a toll on both of the families, the young couple is forced to split apart and test their love.

Director Brian Kreider is setting the play in the distant future to present a fresh interpretation of the classic story. “Star crossed lovers caught in tragic circumstances are as old as the stars themselves.  From Greek and Roman mythological lovers to West Side Story and the Crips and the Bloods, Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, shines as the brightest star of all time.  And the glow from that light shall surround the Hershey Area Playhouse throughout the Valentine season when hearts soar and lovers fall for each other,” said Kreider.

The cast includes Jason Ader as Romeo, Aneesa Neibauer as Juliet, Don Bowman as Friar Lawrence, Ryan Hays as Mercutio, Samuel McQuinn as Tybalt, John Messmer as Lord Capulet, Lori Kimmel as Lady Capulet, James Paluskievicz as Lord Montague, Paul Michel as Benvolio, Tyler Grudi as Paris, Cosette Gobat as Princess, Micaela Sisco as Balthasar, Dante Saraccino as Sampson, Cameron Darkes as Gregory, Ana Paluskievicz as the Prologue, Jennifer Decker as the swordfighter, Kodiak Thompson as Abraham and Peter and Tracey Ford as Lady Montague and The Apothecary.

The townspeople and dancers will be played by: Cara McErlean, Maura McEarlean, Michele McErlean, Liza Gobat, Patrick Briotte, Courtney Wood, Colby Thompson, Haley Plott, and Grace Wagler.  The show is being produced by Lisa Greene and the stage manager is Paul Hood.
