Council Offers Winter Schedule of Adult and Teen Classes

One-time workshops:

Wednesday, January 23 and February 13, 6-9 pm:  “Open Studio Canvas & Corks”, a one-night painting experience for beginners, or painters who just want to have a fun night out, with instructor Sasha Coleman Arnett

Thursday, January 24, 9:30-11:30 am: “Intro to Creative Photography”, for “mom-tographers” looking to think outside the box and capture their children’s special moments, with instructor Tina Flohr

Two-week classes:

Mondays, January 14 & 21, 6:30-9:30 pm: “Four-Block Twill Bowl”, where participants will create a basket with continuous-weave twill spirals winding up the sides, and a 2-color border (not suitable for beginners), with instructor Susan Matson

Fridays, February 22 and March 1, 9:30-11:30 am: “Portraits in Graphite”, where students will draw a portrait with the grid technique, using powdered graphite for a classic delicate look, with instructor Barb Petrucci

Weekly classes:

Starting January 19, 8:30-10:30 am: “Digital Photography”, a class for beginners and people with some experience to learn about digital photography, with instructor Kristen Pixler

Starting Monday, January 21, 12 noon -3 pm: “Beginning and Intermediate Oil Painting” with instructor Mark Brockman

Starting Tuesday January 22, 9:30am – 12:30 pm: “Painting Flowers”, in student’s choice of acrylic, oil or pastel, with instructor Marti Yeager

Starting Tuesday January 22, 6-9 pm: “Portrait Painting”, with live model, in student’s choice of medium, with instructor Ski Holm

Starting Friday January 25, 9:30am – 12:30 pm: “Painting Beyond the Photograph”, where students will explore various ways of using their own photographs as a guide to painting a work that becomes their own creative expression, with instructor Marti Yeager

Starting Thursday January 31, 6 – 8:30 pm: “So You Know You Can’t Draw, But You Always Wanted To!”: foundations of drawing, including proportions, perspective, shading & textures, with instructor Laurie McKelvie

Starting Thursday February 7, 12:30-3:30: “4 Weeks – 4 Books”, where students will create a new book each week, and learn about text blocks, soft & hard covers, & a variety of binding techniques, with instructor Kate Reynolds

Thursdays, 9:30 -11:30:  “Pastels! Look Out, You’re Gonna Love Them!” with Laurie McKelvie
